Packing Inspiration

So I've done a lot of thinking about packing for my trip to Finland and these pictures actually tell excactly what I have in mind. I need pieces that all go together, so surprisingly I'm going to go mostly with black and other basics. My camel coat, leather pants, black cashmir knit, white cable knit and over the knee boots as well as another pair of black booties are definately going with me. I'm also thinking of a leather skirt and a white button down. These would get me far and I think I'd be able to mix and match quite easily. My only problem is that I think I might need a thicker winter coat and I've gotten rid of all my really warm winter coats here in DC because I haven't needed any. Also I noticed that I really don't have many black coats. Mostly just lightweight fall jackets. I need to think about this coat thing a bit more. I don't really want to go buy something that I'll only be using in Finland. Something like the one Gisele is wearing in the fourth picture would be awesome though and I would definately be wearing it here too. Well, we'll see. :)

// Paljon on tullut pohdittua pakkausasioita suomen reissun varalle ja nämä kuvat itseasiassa tiivistävät sen, mitä on mielessä ollut. Tarvitsen mukaan vaatteita jotka käytännössä kaikki käyvät yhteen, joten paljon mustaa ja muita perusjuttuja on lähdössä mukaan. Beige takki, nahkahousut, musta cashmirneule, valkoinen neule ja ylipolvensaappaat joidenkin mustien nilkkureiden lisäksi pääsevä mukaan ainakin. Lisäksi olen miettinyt pakkaavani valkoisen kauluspaidan ja jonkun nahkahameen. Näillä pääsisi jo melko pitkälle ja olisi helposti keskenään yhdisteltävissä. Ainoa isompi ongelma on se, etten usko omistavani tarpeeksi lämmintä talvitakkia, sillä olen tänne tullessa aika pitkälti hankkiutunut eroon suurimmasta osasta kunnon lämpimiä talvitakkeja. Niille kun ei täällä ole samalla lailla käyttöä. Asiaa pohtiessani huomasin myös, ettei minulla oikeastaan ole mustia lämpimämpiä takkeja juurikaan. Lähinnä kevyitä takkeja syksyyn. Pitää siis hieman takkiasiaa vielä miettiä. En haluaisi lähteä ostamaan takkia, jota tulee käytettyä vain suomessa. Tosin joku tuollainen ihana takki, kuten Giselellä on neljännessä kuvassa päällään,päätyisi varmasti käyttöön täälläkkin. Noh, jää nähtäväksi mitä keksin. :)

Another sunny day in DC. Fall in here is almost like summer in Finland.
I've been having a hard time with my closet for these past months. I'm waiting to get all the summer clothes out and fall/winter stuff in. I don't have room for all of it and these summery fall weathers make it hard for me. I'm also in a process of tossing a lot of clothes. As I mentioned earlier I'll be taking some to a fleemarket in Finland. Unfortunately shoes and bags are mostly too heavy to take with so I'm going to have to list them on eBay propably. And I hate it. It's so much work to take the pictures and pack and send it. Or actually it's not that muck work it's just that I never have the right size boxes and all to put the stuff in so I need to improvise. :D And to add to it, my son doesn't make it any easier by jumping on me and all the stuff I'm trying to pack.

But about this outfit; I don't really know how I ended up putting on something so girly as pink sweater and skirt with heels. Pink and grey go great together in my opinion but I usually pair them together in something bit less ladylike. Maybe it's because of the hat that I felt comfortable in this, who knows. These heels though! I've said it before and I'll say it again; SO comfortable. When I bought these for my sisters wedding I seriously never thought I'd wear them again but here I go again. Sometimes I surprise myself.

Now I'm off to gym. More things black tomorrow!

//  Jälleen yksi aurinkoinen päivä DC:ssä. Syksy täällä on lähes kuin kesä suomessa.
Olen paininut vaatekaappiongelmien kanssa viime kuukausina. Odotan, että voisin tyhjentää kaapit kesävaatteista ja ottaa syys/talvivaatteita tilalle, mutta nää kesäkelit syksyllä tekee tästä haastavaa. Tarkotus olis samalla heivata kaapista muutenkin vaateita ja niin kuin aiemmin totesinkin, osa niistä lähtee mukanani kirpputorille suomeen. Tylsä vaan, että kengät ja laukut on niin painavia, ettei niitä ole järkeä lähteä suomeen lennättämään. Joudun varmaan listaamaan ne eBayhin. Inhoan sitä. Hirveästi tekemistä, että saa kuvat otettua ja sitten vielä myydyt tavarat pakattua ja lähetettyä. Tai no, ei siinä ehkä niin hirvee duuni oikeesti oo, mutta mulla ei ikinä ole sopivan kokoisia laatikoita tai pussukoita niille tavaroille a joudun improvisoimaan. :D Ja pikkumies ei toki helpota pakkaamista yhtään roikkumalla hihassa ja hyppimällä kaiken päällä.

No mutta, asusta sen verran, että en tiedä yhtään miten päädyin pukemaan päälle jotain niinkin tyttömäistä kuin vaaleanpunaisen neuleen, hameen ja vielä korot. Harmaa ja vaaleanpunainen käyvät yhteen mielestäni ihan huippuhyvin, mutta yleensä paritan ne johonkin vähän vähemmän naiselliseen asuun. Ehkä hattu teki jotain ratkaisevaa, jotta viihdyin tässä asussa niinkin hyvin. Mutta nämä kengät! Olen sanonut ennenkin ja sanon uudestaan; niin mukavat! Kun ostin nämä kesällä siskoni häihin, en tosissaan kuvitellut käyttäväni näitä sen jälkeen enää toiste, mutta tässä sitä taas mennään. Yllätän itsenikin välillä.

Black maxi dresses are usually somehow too fancy for me to wear on a normal day. But this one makes an exception. It's really casual. I wore jeans under it because the fabric is so thin you can see through this dress. Allthough I might have worn jeans under it anyways to be honest. I kinda like it that way.

I have to say a word or two about these booties. These are one of the most comfortable shoes I have including all my sneakers and flats. I bought these years ago from Zara and have used these more than my other shoes all together propably. My only problem with these is that they are starting to be all worn out. I've taken these to a cobbler for hundreds of times and they've always been able to do magic and make these last a little longer. Now I think I'm going to have to let them go soon. It really makes me sad. I've also kept my eyes open for a 2nd hand pair of the same shoes but haven't had any luck yet. Still kepping my thumbs up.
I actually have another pair of high heel booties from Zara that I really love and is quite worn already. I don't know why these shoes are for some reason so comfortable.

Do you guys have any shoes you are really loving and would hate to get worn out?

// Mustat maximekot on yleensä jotenkin liian hienoja, jotta osaisin käyttää niitä arkipäivänä. Tämä tosin tekee poikkeuksen olemalla hyvinkin arkinen. Puin mekon alle farkut, sillä kangas on ohutta ja läpikuultavaa. Tosin olisin saattanut pukea farkut alle, vaikkei näin olisi ollutkaan, sillä tykkään tästä yhdistelmästä.

Pakko sanoa muutama sana näistä kengistä. Nämä ovat ehdottomasti yhdet mukavimmista kengistä jotka omista, mukaan lukien kaikki lenkkarit ja muut matalatkin kengät. Olen ostanut nämä vuosia sitten Zarasta ja käyttänyt varmasti enemmän kuin kaikkia muita kenkiäni yhteensä. Ainoa ongelma nyt on se, että ne alkavat olla melko kuluneet. Olen käyttänyt kenkiä suutarilla satoja kertoja ja aina niihin on onnistuttu puhaltamaan vielä lisää henkeä. Nyt kuitenkin luulen, että ne alkavat tulla tiensä päähän. Se on surullista. Olen pitänyt silmiä auki jos löytäsin jostain vähän käytettynä samat kengät, muttei ole vielä ollut onnea matkassa. Pidän edelleen kuitenkin peukut pystyssä.

Omistan itseasiassa toisenkin parin korkealla korolla varustettuja nilkkureita Zarasta, joista todella pidän ja jotka alkavat olemaan tiensä päässä. En tiedä mikä näistä kengistä tekee niin mielettömän mukavat jalassa.

Double Leather

This is by far my favourite outfit this fall. I just love love love the double leather. I don't know why I've never tried it before like this. But I do know I'll do it again. To make the outfit bit lighter I paired the leathers with off-white lace. I've bought this skirt when I was 6 months pregnant and was glad to see it still fits. :D It is bit loose but doesn't fall of. I was quite lucky to have a tiny baby bump so I didn't have to get any maternity clothes. Or actually I did buy one pair of maternity pants from ASOS but even though I ordered the smallest size (btw why is the smallest maternity size is us4 in many cases?) it ended up to be too big even on my 9th month.

 

Anyway, I wore this outfit during the weekend as we visited the Zoo. My boy was so happy to see all the cheetahs and elephants. I think were gonna have to visit there more often when he gets older. It's been really warm these last two days, so skirt was a good choise. In few weeks I'll just be dreaming of skirts with bare legs in Finland. I heard it has been snowing there. Need to do some changes on my packing list. :D

 

I'm going to do a post about my packing. I'll be travelling quite light but it's going to be much colder in Finland so I need to be prepaired. Layering is the key. But more about this later on.

// Tämä on mun helposti lempparein asu tältä syksyltä. Mä oon ihan heikkona tähän tulpanahkaan. En ymmärrä miten ei ole aiemmin tullut mieleen yhdistää nahkavaatteita näin, mutta tiedän, että tämä ei ollut viimeinen kerta. Keventääkseni asua hieman, puin nämä nahat luonnonvalkoisen pitsin kanssa. Olen ostanut tämän pitsihameen ollessani kuudennella kuulla raskaana ja olin iloinen huomatessani, että se edelleen on sopiva. :D Pikkasen väljä se on, muttei putoa päältä kuitenkaan. Mulla kävi melko tuuri ja raskausmaha oli aika pikkuinen, joten tarvetta millekkään äitiysvaatteille ei ollut. Tai itseasiassa ostin yhdet äitiyshousut, mutta vaikka ne oli pienentä tarjolla olevaa kokoa (mistähän johtuu, että monesti 36 koko on äitiysvaatteissa pienin?), ne olivat liian isot ollessani vielä viimeisillänikin raskaana.

 

No joka tapauksessa, tämä asu oli päälläni viikonloppuna kun kävimme eläintarhassa pojan kanssa. Pikkumies oli niin onnellinen siellä gepardien ja norsujen kanssa. Meidän täytyy varmaan alkaa vierailemaan siellä useammin kun poika vähän kasvaa. Täällä on taas ollu todella lämmin, joten hame oli tuolle päivälle oikein hyvä valinta. Muutamien viikkojen päästä Suomessa voin van haaveilla hameista paljaiden säärien kaverina. Suomessa on kuulemma jo satanut luntakin. Pitänee  vielä viilata vähän siis pakkauslistaa.

 

Ajattelin tehdä postauksen pakkauksestani. Matkustan kevyesti, mutta Suomen keleihin varautuneesti. Kerrostus tulee siis olemaan avainasemassa. Mutta palataan siihen.

Just a quick hello and yesterday's outfit before heading to playground with my little one. 

Navy and black is a color combination that I'm really into right now. Unfortunately I only have a few navy pieces in my closet and this sweater from forever21 is one of them. We were heading downtown so I thought it would be appropriate to wear lipstick :)

//Pikamoikat ja eilisen asu ennenkuin lähdetään leikkipuistoon pikkumiehen kanssa. Tummansininen ja musta on väriyhdistelmä, joka tänä syksynä on erityisesti miellyttänyt. Harmi vaan, että vaatekaapissani ei kovin montaa sinistä vaatekappaletta ole. Tämä forever21 neule kuitenkin on yksi niistä harvoista. Lähdimme käymään kaupungilla, joten ajattelin, että olisi kohtuullista edes laittaa huulipunaa :)
